A conversation with some of Australia’s leading advocates for the elderly and people living with dementia.
Speakers include the legendary Ita Buttrose, Professor Wendy Lacey (Dean and Head of Law at the University of South Australia), Kate Swaffer (academic, author, poet, and the 2017 Australian of the Year for South Australia), Professor Joseph Ibrahim (Head of Health Law and the Ageing Research Unit at Monash University’s Department of Forensic Medicine) and Dr Sarah Russell (a public health researcher).
The Art of Ageing is a three-part work of social artistry directed by Tasmanian artist Jane Baker. It engages various communities to celebrate the lives of our elders, and to raise awareness of their rights and care needs—particularly those living with dementia.
Part Two, ‘Who is Care and Who Cares?’, follows Part One, ‘Artists in Facilities Facilitating Arts’: a variety of creative programs delivered by volunteers to residents of southern Tasmanian aged-care facilities in late 2017. Details about Part Three will be announced soon.
The Art of Ageing is supported by Mona.
